Alright, I'll admit it. A Fold Apart cheats a little. This simple puzzle game revolves around the story of a couple carrying on a long distance relationship after a work opportunity separates them. As they begin to grow apart, the game uses its puzzles as a metaphor for the characters working through their insecurities concerning their relationship. The narrative is lovely and the paper folding-based puzzle solving mechanics are something I haven't seen before and make for some really solid head scratchers. However, this game has the major advantage of coming out right at the time when me and my then-girlfriend were facing a very similar situation. Luckily for us we managed to avoid long distance, but I'd be lying if I said this game didn't bring a tear or two to my eye. I will acknowledge that this is yet another game with ridiculously slow controls and pacing for no reason besides padding the game's 3-hour playtime. Still, if you want to experience a great narrative, some neat puzzles, and don't mind a slow pace, A Fold Apart might just be for you.

A Fold Apart

A wonderful sotry with a neat puzzle gameplay gimmcik held back by the unfortunate need to pad out the gameplay with slow, tedious controls.
