This is one of the strangest games I've played in a while. A PS5 launch title that's honestly ugly as sin, but with unique action-puzzle gameplay, a surprisingly intriguing story, and some wonderfully funny lines sprinkled throughout Bugsnax is far more than the meme it appears to be at first glance. Your character travels to an island to learn about mysterious creatures called Bugsnax from a famous explorer named Lizbeth, but upon arriving she's gone missing and the town's residents have all left. Your mission is to track down the residents, bring them home, and solve the mystery of the missing Lizbeth. This is accomplished by using various tools at your disposal to catch the elusive Bugsnax and feed them to the seemingly addicted residents. The clever puzzles and sheer amount of variety in how they’re used can make for some real brain scratchers here and there, and it even has some really fun boss fights! And while the experience can be slow to start and the Bugsnax AI is frustratingly inconsistent at times, with a game this charming you're really missing out if you don't give Bugsnax a try.
