Iron Man VR Review

Played On: PS4 (PSVR)

I think VR is one of the coolest innovations in gaming in a long time, but developers have struggled to really make it feel worthwhile. Sure there are some games where the advanced immersion really helps and Beat Saber is a thing, but it's pretty rare that a game manages to really feel like VR is integral to the experience while also maintaining a level of quality worth writing home about. Unfortunately the only headset I have is a PSVR so I couldn't try out Half Life Alyx this year, which probably would've been a contender for my game of the year, but what I did get to play is Iron Man VR. This game, cliched lines aside, really makes you feel like Iron Man. And that's no exaggeration. You want to shoot? Point and shoot. You want to fly? Move your hands and fly. You want to turn around? Okay we'll get there eventually, but either way the game is an absolute blast to play and the closest to the feeling of flying through the air I think many of us will ever get. Sure there are plenty of issues like the PSVR's limitations, the bland story, ugly graphics, and Tony's carpal tunnel really doing a number on him, but nothing can compare to the experience that Iron Man VR offers and if you have a PSVR I'd definitely say it's a must-play.

Iron Man VR

Held back by the limitations of its hardware, Iron Man VR is a solid attempt to bring the hero to life.
